As dentists, we are increasingly aware of what the medical world is just beginning to understand: chronic endodontic infections—often stemming from advanced caries—can contribute to heart attack, stroke, systemic inflammation, and more. Fortunately, the diagnostic tools at our fingertips are evolving rapidly.

With the integration of AI-assisted radiographic analysis and 3D imaging (CBCT), we can now detect asymptomatic lesions that were previously invisible on traditional films. This advanced technology not only enhances diagnostic accuracy but also sparks critical new conversations with patients—about early intervention, the risks of observation, and a shift from reactive “tooth carpentry” to true disease management.
