Most dental professionals receive little to no training on oral care products, despite their daily use by every patient. This lecture reveals why many conventional and “natural” options may be ineffective or harmful and empowers clinicians to better evaluate product safety, efficacy, and age-appropriateness. Attendees will go beyond the outdated fluoride vs. non-fluoride debate to explore overlooked factors like pH, formulation quality, and oral microbiome. Topics will include prebiotics, probiotics, and both micro and nano hydroxyapatite, providing a new framework for recommending products that truly support oral and systemic health across every age and stage.
Learning Objectives:
- Uncover the surprising gaps and misinformation surrounding professional education on oral care products.
- Learn how product design (including delivery format and formulation) affects safety and compliance across life stages.
- Bust 10 of the most common myths surrounding oral care products—including those labeled “natural,” or “kids.”
Practical Applications for Dentists & Hygienists:
- Audit your current patient recommendations and replace outdated or potentially harmful product guidance.
- Help patients select oral care products based on evidence, and not just marketing claims or ingredient fads.

Title: “The Mouth-Body Longevity Connection."
Synopsis:
The mouth is more than a gateway—it’s a command center for systemic health and longevity. This session explores how oral inflammation, oxidative stress, and microbial imbalance can fuel disease, accelerate aging, and reduce lifespan. Dr. Kami Hoss will reveal how common oral care products (both conventional and “natural”) can disrupt protective biological pathways, damage the oral microbiome, and contribute to conditions like cardiovascular disease, cognitive impairment, and even cancer. You’ll learn what to look for, what to avoid, and how to help patients adopt oral care routines that support not just a healthier mouth, but a longer, healthier life.
Learning Objectives:
- Explore the mechanisms by which oral inflammation and ROS contribute to endothelial damage, immune dysfunction, and aging.
- Understand how oral care habits and product ingredients can influence epigenetics, chronic disease risk, and lifespan.
- Learn how oral health influences every stage of life—from pregnancy and childhood development to chronic disease, quality of life, and longevity.
Practical Applications for Dentists & Hygienists:
- Translate emerging oral-systemic research into actionable patient guidance that elevates your role in whole-body wellness.
- Counsel patients on how their oral care routines may be contributing to—or protecting against—systemic inflammation.
- Become a trusted partner in longevity-focused care by helping patients optimize their oral environment to support total health.

Title: "3 Keys to Oral-Systemic Health or Disease: AAOSH's Golden Opportunity!"
Synopsis of Lecture:
Research is now pointing toward a critical relationship between 3 key factors of oral-systemic health or disease... 1) BREATHING, 2) BACTERIA & 3) BLOOD. Healthy nasal breathing and oxygenation promote a healthy, predominantly aerobic, commensal oral microbiome. Pathologic mouth breathing and sleep desaturations promote the proliferation of anaerobic, pathogenic oral microbiome and vascular oxidative stress. When pathogenic bacteria create oral infections and inflammation, we observe “leaky gums and teeth”. Oral pathogens spread into the bloodstream, arterial walls, and organs throughout the body, creating chronic systemic inflammation. AAOSH is where we learn to screen, test, and treat these 3 central factors of health or disease. In this session, we will explore our golden opportunity together!
Learning Objectives:
- Introduce the concept of Airway—> Pathogens —> Plaques
- Learn how to screen and test using High Resolution Pulse Oximetry(HRPO) & Salivary Diagnostics
- Understand the concept of ‘Leaky Syndrome”
Practical Applications:
- Each attendee will understand the detrimental effects of disordered breathing and sleep on oral-
systemic health. - Each attendee will be challenged to begin using HRPO and Salivary Diagnostics in their practices
- Each attendee will understand the systemic risks of Leaky Syndrome
