Course Description:

Topics of dental treatment with: anticoagulants, diabetes, hypertension, psychiatric medications, substance use history, cancer therapy considerations, polypharmacy

Learning Objectives:

  • Evaluate medical conditions and medications that significantly impact dental treatment.
  • Modify treatment planning for patients with cardiovascular, endocrine, psychiatric, and immunocompromising conditions. Identify common oral manifestations of systemic disease.
  • Recognize medication interactions and dental contraindications. Improve communication with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

Dr. Mary Margaret Campbell is a general dentist with advanced clinical training in comprehensive care, including endodontics, oral surgery, and prosthodontics. Licensed in New York, New Jersey, and North Carolina, she has practiced in a wide range of settings, including the VA healthcare system, private practice, academic institutions, community health centers, and correctional facilities. Passionate about public health and expanding access to care, Dr. Campbell is dedicated to evidence-based dentistry, interdisciplinary collaboration, and treating medically complex patients. She is an active leader in organized dentistry and is committed to helping clinicians deliver exceptional patient-centered care.
