Description
The aim of this section is to review the available data linking oral health to adverse perinatal outcomes, including preterm birth. We will review commensal constituents of the oral and pregnancy microbiome, and the biologic evidence linking oral communities with other body niches.

Learning Objectives
1. Discuss evidence linking oral health and perinatal outcomes
2. Discuss rigor of evidence supporting a low biomass intrauterine microbiome
3. Identify macromolecules which may functionally influence the make up of the perinatal microbiome

Dr. Kjersti Aagaard-Tillery, MD is a Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialist in Houston, TX and has over 24 years of experience in the medical field. Dr. Aagaard-Tillery has more experience with Obstetric Care than other specialists in her area. She graduated from Mayo Medical School medical school in 1996.
