MEET THE SPEAKERS:

Midwinter Speaker - Montes

Title: "Unraveling the Mystery of Autoimmune Disease from an Oral Health Perspective"

Synopsis:

There are over 80 recognized autoimmune diseases. In spite of this growing problem, there are still massive gaps in scientific knowledge about autoimmunity and how to treat it. These conditions can be caused by metals, drugs, pathogens, and food allergies. The release of metal ions from dental treatment can prompt an immune reaction. Hidden oral infections and low stomach acid are also implicated in the development of inflammation and autoimmunity. In this presentation, we will explore control and resolution strategies to decrease this epidemic of inflammatory disease. (In the presentation we will present numerous case studies that illustrate the treatment protocols and the effect said treatment have on health outcomes. We’ll also include testimonials from real patients to make the presentation more interesting with the “human factor.”)

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the effect dental materials and implanted metals can have on health and inflammation.
  • Understand the process of stomach acid production and digestion and how low stomach acid can result in leaky gut and inflammation/autoimmunity 3. Know what nutritional strategies/supplementation will provide the body with the necessary building blocks for proper function and what detox strategies are indicated for clearing material toxicity.
