Course Description:

Alzheimer's disease is a progressive neurological disorder that primarily affects cognitive function, leading to memory loss, confusion, and behavioral changes. While the exact cause of Alzheimer's disease is not fully understood, research has explored potential connections between oral health and Alzheimer's.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understanding that while these links between oral health, neurospirochetosis, and Alzheimer's disease are areas of active research, the exact mechanisms and the strength of the associations are still subjects of ongoing investigation. More research is needed to determine the extent to which oral health may contribute to the development or progression of Alzheimer's disease and the role of spirochetes in this context.
  • Describe how maintaining good oral health remains essential for overall well-being, and some research suggests that it may have broader implications for brain health.
