Course Description:

As dentists, we are increasingly aware of what the medical world is just beginning to understand: chronic endodontic infections—often stemming from advanced caries—can contribute to heart attack, stroke, systemic inflammation, and more. Fortunately, the diagnostic tools at our fingertips are evolving rapidly.

With the integration of AI-assisted radiographic analysis and 3D imaging (CBCT), we can now detect asymptomatic lesions that were previously invisible on traditional films. This advanced technology not only enhances diagnostic accuracy but also sparks critical new conversations with patients—about early intervention, the risks of observation, and a shift from reactive “tooth carpentry” to true disease management.

In this webinar, you’ll gain both clinical insights and communication strategies to confidently address these findings with patients and guide them toward optimal outcomes.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify and utilize current diagnostic technologies, including AI-supported radiography and CBCT, to detect carious and periapical lesions earlier and more accurately.
  2. Understand the systemic health risks associated with asymptomatic periapical lesions, including the presence of high-risk pathogens linked to cardiovascular disease and chronic inflammation.
  3. Discuss likely microbial profiles of endodontic infections and explore options for microbial testing and eradication strategies.
  4. Communicate more effectively with patients about disease risk, treatment urgency, and personalized care decisions.

Practical Applications for Dentists & Hygienists:

  1. Apply AI-supported radiography and CBCT to detect asymptomatic periapical lesions earlier and with greater precision.
  2. Analyze detected lesions for potential systemic health risks, including cardiovascular implications, and consider microbial testing when appropriate.
  3. Formulate and deliver personalized patient communication that emphasizes the urgency and systemic impact of untreated dental infections.
