Course Description:
Explore the intricate interplay between Parkinson’s Disease and oral health in "Parkinson’s Disease: A Deep Dive into the Oral Health Connections." This session focuses on identifying risk areas within the oral cavity for Parkinson's patients and devising tailored solutions to address their unique dental needs. Additionally, it explores current research examining the correlation between systemic inflammation and Parkinson’s Disease, shedding light on their relationship. This course aims to deepen participants' understanding of Parkinson's Disease's impact on oral health while equipping them with strategies to provide specialized dental care for affected individuals.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify specific risk areas within the oral cavity for individuals affected by Parkinson’s Disease and propose practical solutions to address their dental challenges, considering the disease's impact on oral health.
- Discuss and evaluate current research exploring the correlation between systemic inflammation and Parkinson's Disease, elucidating the influence of systemic health factors on the disease's progression and its manifestations in oral health.
Speaker Bio:
Anne Rice, a clinical hygienist with over 30 years of experience, founded Oral Systemic Seminars in 2017, focusing extensively on dementia prevention. As a Certified Dementia Practitioner and Longevity Specialist with the Alzheimer’s Research and Prevention Foundation, she developed a curriculum and actively educates in medical, dental, and public settings. Anne completed the Bale/Doneen Preceptorship, holds fellowship status with AAOSH, and has consulted for Weill Cornell Alzheimer’s and Prevention Clinic as well as Florida Atlantic’s Brain Health Center. Presently consulting at the Atria Institute in New York, she authors a column for RDH Magazine and Today’s RDH. She serves on the Advisory Boards for Direct Diagnostics and AAOSH and contributes to an advisory project with OraPharma. Anne is an integral part of an International Consortium comprised of diverse brain researchers, clinicians, and institutions dedicated to Alzheimer’s prevention.
