Course Description:

The Integrative Dental Medicine (IDM) Checklist draws upon Atul Gawande, MD's work in The Checklist Manifesto, emphasizing the crucial role of checklists in enhancing performance and preventing critical errors across various domains like aviation, healthcare infection control, and the efficient management of Integrative Dental Medicine (IDM) practices. A systematic plan is imperative to effectively implement the wealth of knowledge acquired from annual AAOSH meetings into practical use on Monday mornings. This session furnishes participants with an IDM Checklist designed to facilitate structured planning and execution.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain an IDM Checklist to each participant, ensuring comprehensive access to the planning tool.
  • Clarify and elucidate the utilization of the checklist, ensuring a thorough understanding among all participants regarding its application.
  • Demonstrate the checklist's utility in simultaneously evaluating, diagnosing, and treating inflammation/infection, airway/breathing/sleep disorders, and temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD)/occlusal issues, fostering a systematic approach to patient care and treatment protocols.
