Shirley Gutkowski, RDH, has been breathing since before her first birthday. Finding out in 2014 that she was doing it wrong, and how that affected her life, even her life choices, was a jaw dropper!

2014 is when she was dragged to another conference that was of tangential interest to her speaking topic Minimal Intervention Dentistry In Dental Hygiene. Turns out that breathing is the best form of prevention in dentistry, inflammation, cardiovascular breakdown, mental health and so much more.

Edward J. Zuckerberg, D.D.S., F.A.G.D. is a 1978 Graduate of NYU College of Dentistry. He owned his own practices in Brooklyn and Dobbs Ferry, NY from 1979-2013 and has always been an early adopter of technology, introducing his first PC in the office in 1986 and completely fully networking his home-based office with broadband access in 1996. Dr. Zuckerberg’s early adoption of technologies, including digital radiography, CAD/CAM & creation of a paperless office, caught the attention of Industry leaders who enlisted him to lecture, write articles, and beta test new technologies. The advanced technology in the home helped launch his son, Mark, the founder of Facebook, interest in computers. With his wife of 44 years, Karen, a retired Psychiatrist, they also have 3 daughters: Randi, former Marketing Director at Facebook and now CEO of Zuckerberg Media, and Donna, who received her Classics Ph.D at Princeton and is now an author and editor of the online publication, Eidolon, featuring a modern way to write about the ancient world & Arielle, who is a partner in a Financial Firm in San Francisco, as well as 9 grandchildren. Dr. Zuckerberg lectures nationally and internationally on the Oral Systemic Connection, serves as a Venture Partner at Revere Partners, the First Independent Venture Fund for Oral Health, and acts as the Chief Dental advisor for both Viome and Keystone Bio in addition to treating patients part-time in Cupertino, CA. Dr. Zuckerberg has co-authored several textbooks and is a frequent webinar and podcast guest as well as a regular contributor to Dental Journals.

Dr. Sara Karlin is a board-certified pediatric dentist working as Adjunct Faculty at the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health and in private practice in Phoenix. She received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland, College Park, and completed her D.D.S. at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. Dr. Karlin pursued her specialty training at New York University and Bellevue Hospital Center, earning a certificate in Pediatric Dentistry. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the Arizona Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Karlin is the primary author of “Dental and Oral Considerations in Pediatric Celiac Disease,” published in J Dent Child in May 2016, and has co-authored numerous online continuing education courses for oral healthcare providers.

As a keynote speaker, Dr. Karlin presents an array of nutrition and oral health topics to dental and dental hygiene organizations across the continent. Notable engagements have included the American Dental Association, New York Dental Society, Arizona Dental Society, and American Dental Hygiene Association. 

Dr. Karlin's zest for life shines in the classroom, dental exam room, in front of the microphone, and beyond her professional endeavors. In her free time, she enjoys traveling the globe for new experiences, hiking with her fiancé and their Goldendoodle, and indulging in her guilty pleasure of reality television.

Ellen Karlin currently owns and operates a nutrition consulting service. Previously, she was a nutrition consultant to dental healthcare professionals in Owings Mills, Maryland, and also spent over 3 decades as a nutrition consultant at the Comprehensive Asthma and Allergy Center. Mrs. Karlin holds a Master of Medical Science degree in Nutrition Education from Emory University. In 1999, she became a fellow of the American Dietetic Association. Ellen is also a spokesperson for the American Dairy Association North East.

Mrs. Karlin is a nationally recognized keynote speaker at healthcare conferences. She has presented to many dental and dental hygiene groups, including the New York Dental Society, Arizona Dental Society, American Academy for Oral and Systemic Health, Florida Dental Association, American Dental Association, Pennsylvania Dental Association, Louisiana Dental Association, and American Dental Hygiene Association. Ellen is the co-author of “Dental and Oral Considerations in Pediatric Celiac Disease.” Additionally, she has collaborated as co-author for several online continuing education courses for oral healthcare professionals, as well as delivered numerous webinars. 

Ellen's passion for health and nutrition is unmatched. There is not a day that goes by without neighborhood walks, diverse eats, and ensuring that her friends and family keep a healthy lifestyle at the top of mind.

Dr. Neel Bulchandani is a holistic chiropractor, bodyworker, teacher, and thought leader in the areas of airway and feeding issues. He has created the Airway Map – a new way of understanding the body’s maladapted patterns from tongue ties, narrow palates, and jaw issues – and from that understanding, specializes in helping babies, children, and adults heal. He coordinates care with other experts in the airway field, and has developed protocols for helping optimize outcomes with tongue tie, palate, and jaw surgeries (frenectomy, frenuoplasty, orthodontics, palate expansion, OMT, OAT, MSE/MARPE, MIND, DOME, RPE, MMA, TJR, MAGO, etc). He guides patients and practitioners virtually in this work, and he also see patients in California in Redding, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, and Los Angeles.

Presented virtually via Zoom, our typical agenda starts with a program kick-off and an overview of the day’s events and our speakers. Throughout the day, you will hear from practitioners who will share their research, best practices, and strategies in oral and systemic health. We will uncover strategies you can adopt to succeed as an oral and systemic practice. We’ll also dive deeper into the data building blocks used in performance analysis and decision-making. The agenda will focus on identifying growth opportunities and uncovering insights into building strong patient relationships. This virtual event will also offer attendees opportunities to network with similar organizations and individuals leading the charge in oral and systemic health.

Tanya Dunlap, PhD is a Vice President at Perio Protect, where she has worked since 2005. For several years she served as the research liaison for the company, working with researchers and investigators who were testing Perio Tray® therapy in controlled clinical trials and microbiology studies. Her expertise in adjunctive periodontal therapy is grounded in the data, explaining how the prescription trays work and which patient candidates can benefit from them.

Bio:

Dr. Barbara McClatchie, DDS is on a mission to enrich the quality of life for every person she meets. Her practice, Complete Health Dentistry of Columbus, employs a team of professionals specializing in general restorative dentistry and uses researched-based methods that ensure optimal oral, mouth and heart health. As an accredited provider of the Bale Doneen Method, she works in partnership with the Heart Attack Stroke Prevention Center of Central Ohio and supports other dentists to help patients prevent heart attacks and strokes. She is a founding member of American Academy of Oral Systemic Health, an organization bringing medical and dental professionals together as patient advocates for better patient outcomes.

Bio:

Dr. Eric Goulder, MD, FACC is the founder of the Heart Attack Stroke Prevention Center of Central Ohio (HASPC), which opened in July 2017 in Worthington, Ohio. After graduating from The Ohio State University College
of Medicine in 1976, he worked for twenty years at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He then worked for ten years as a cardiologist, affiliated with Marietta Memorial Hospital, until he opened the HASPC of Central Ohio. In 2012, Dr. Goulder was introduced to the Bale Doneen (BD) Method, which incorporates the most current, research-based information along with painless non-invasive tests, simple blood tests and genetic information to help predict and prevent heart attacks and ischemic strokes. He has since become an accredited provider of the BD Method. At the
HASPC, Dr. Goulder will check and treat patients for hidden heart attack and stroke risk using the BD Method, which is employed by hundreds of practitioners worldwide.

Bio:

Dr. Poulsen was born in Racine, WI and a graduate of Wisconsin Lutheran College with Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. He obtained his BSN and Doctor of Nursing Practice from Valparaiso University in Indiana. He was certified in Palliative Medicine and Hospice Care through the Hospice and Palliative Care Nursing Association in 2018.

Dr. Poulsen has been working for the last 6 years in Palliative Medicine and Pain Management at St. Joseph Health System in Mishawaka, IN. He has been in healthcare for 25 years over 5 hospital systems and 4 outpatient settings. He is a member of Hospice and Palliative Nursing Association and American Society for Pain Management Nursing. He is currently serving as the Chairman for Pain Management Committee and member of Provision of Care Council at St. Joseph Health System. Dr. Poulsen is also an Associate Adjunct Professor at Valparaiso University School of Nursing.

He currently resides in Granger, IN with his wife Dr. Rachel Poulsen, DDS, three children (Liam, Lily, and Levi) and their dog Wrigley. Dr. Poulsen and his family are joyfully active in their Church. He and his family also enjoy Taekwondo which Dr. and Dr. Poulsen and Liam are 1st degree black belts. Lily and Levi are working hard to reach their goal of being black belts.

Bio:

Dr. Haroldo Magarinos is a Chilean dentist with expertise in periodontics, oral medicine, and surgical implantology.

After a decade of conventional practice and university teaching, he followed his passion and became a board-certified naturopathic doctor.

Additionally, he has expertise in integrative biological dental medicine, homeopathy, live blood analysis, peptide therapy, and advanced clinical ozone therapy.

Dr. Haroldo has long been a strong advocate of the study of the human microbiome, with the conviction that treating patients with dysbiosis can prevent and even correct many prevalent forms of chronic disease.

Using his knowledge and experience in this field, he has been able to improve the lives of hundreds of people who wanted a deeper understanding and management of the underlying causes of their health problems.

He is the co-founder and clinical director of Revolution Gut Health, an online platform that provides counseling services to anyone interested in learning about and improving microbiome-related health conditions.
