Title: "Extending Healthspan by Reconnecting Medicine and Dentistry"

Did you know that systemic inflammation is the primary driver behind strokes, heart attacks, and most of the chronic diseases of aging? And that diseases of the oral cavity can lead to systemic inflammation? There are thousands of articles in the medical and dental literature discussing the connection between oral health and systemic diseases, including cardiovascular disease (CVD), the number 1 killer in the United States since 1900. Yet despite the growing understanding of the bidirectional relationship between the mouth and the body, it is still rare for dental and medical professionals to collaborate on patient care.

In this session, you'll learn about state-of-the-art methods of detecting systemic inflammation and identifying its primary drivers, including the mouth. We'll discuss ways to identify subclinical CVD BEFORE it causes damage to the heart, brain, kidneys, etc. We'll review the tests and treatments that medical and dental professionals should be talking to each other about (and asking their OWN providers for!). We'll discuss aggressive approaches to prevent and treat oral systemic pathology in order to help our patients (and ourselves) stay fit and functional for more years. And we'll learn what forward-thinking healthcare organizations are doing to bring the fields of Medicine and Dentistry together to improve the health of the nation.

Speaker Bio:

Dr. Alan Reisinger, MDVIP's medical director, is a board-certified internist with 36 years of clinical experience practicing prevention-oriented primary care medicine. As a member and subsequent chairman of MDVIP's medical advisory board, he has championed aggressive cardiovascular prevention and played a key role in shaping the organization's clinical direction since 2008. Dr. Reisinger is currently a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, a member of the American Society for Preventive Cardiology, a Bale Doneen Academy member, and an advisory board member of the American Academy for Oral Systemic Health. He is a national lecturer on cardiovascular disease prevention and the oral systemic connection, and has been featured in national media, including Men's Journal, Healthline, Medical News Today, Medscape, and others. Integral to his calling is his commitment to improving patient care, and he is resolute in the need to foster enhanced collaboration between the medical and dental communities.

Title: "'Leaky Syndrome'- What Is It and How Do You Stop It?"

This very enlightening session will introduce a new description of the WHY behind systemic inflammation and many chronically deteriorating conditions so common in our Western world. The term "Leaky Gut" is familiar to all of us, but few can explain exactly what it means or how it happens. In this session, you will learn more about leaky gut and how it illustrates a common problem seen in other parts of the body. You will better understand leaky airways, leaky gums, leaky arteries, leaky brains, leaky kidneys & liver as we explore deeper into the human systems, seeking better answers to both WHY and HOW to address prevention and intervention for our patients.

Title: "Advancements in A Functional Approach to Tongue-Tie, Myofunctional, and Tongue Space Issues: Insights from 7 Years of Clinical Research and Practice."

We invite healthcare providers to engage with the significant developments and discuss the continued evolution of our functional approach to tongue-tie, nasal breathing, oral posture, and tongue space paradigm. Marked by milestones grounded in clinical research, provider education, public awareness, and public health advocacy, together, we will reflect on the collective progress made and consider future directions as we strive to enhance patient outcomes through a comprehensive, functional approach to health. This presentation will empower healthcare providers from different disciplines to recognize and celebrate the progress we have made as a field in recognizing the limitations of modern “medicine” towards a functional approach through root-cause analysis in an integrated, functional approach to health and wellness.
