Course Description:

Presented at Collaboration Cures 2021 by Randy Schulman, OD, this course explores the intricacies of vision health. Learn to define, describe, and understand the foundational principles of the behavioral model of vision, supported by practical examples. Gain insights into the multisensory model of vision and its holistic approach to whole-body health. Discover critical components and considerations in the multisensory assessment checklist while also evaluating alternative assessment models suitable for all age groups, including adaptive assessments. Delve into a diverse range of treatment options for vision issues, both well-known and lesser-known, ideal for patients of all ages. As a unique and creative aspect, you'll develop a series of eye exercises that can be effectively taught to patients, promoting their vision health.

Speaker Bio:

Randy Schulman, MS, OD, FCOVD, graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania in 1987, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. She graduated with her Doctorate in Optometry and Master in Vision Science degrees from the State University of New York, College of Optometry, in 1991. She is currently an Adjunct Clinical Professor and Residency Supervisor for the school. Dr. Schulman received Fellowships in the College of Optometrists for Vision Development and the College of Syntonic Optometry and is an Associate member of the Optometric Extension Program and the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association. Dr. Schulman has lectured extensively on behavioral optometry topics such as vision in the classroom, vision, and aging, and visual difficulties in the developmentally delayed, and has lectured and published on vision and autism, lenses and prisms, Lyme disease, brain injury, pupillary constriction, functional field testing, and multisensory integration. She specializes in integrative optometry and vision therapy with an emphasis on vision rehabilitation, pediatrics, learning disabilities, traumatic brain injury, concussions, and preventative, integrative, and alternative vision care for all ages.
