Course Description:

Medical-dental interprofessional collaboration is an important component of comprehensive vascular wellness. Medical providers must consider the dental care of their patients and work closely with their healthcare colleagues to truly prevent cardiovascular events. Better clinical tools are needed to assess arterial inflammation before ensuring arterial wellness.  Enumerate two broad elements necessary for migrating to a platform of preventing arterial disease or, at a minimum, treating it before it's evident. Recognize oral health as a potential cause of arterial inflammation and formulate a plan for strengthening medical-dental collaboration focusing on arterial wellness.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand that the concept highlights that the arteries are a common ground for both medical and dental professionals to focus on. It stresses the importance of breaking down the traditional silos between medical and dental care to provide holistic, patient-centered care that promotes arterial wellness and overall health.
