Course Description:

In today's era of personalized healthcare and advancing genomics, the landscape of integrative medicine is evolving. This lecture, "Introduction to Nutrigenomics for the Integrative Oral Systemic Practitioner," is designed to navigate the terrain of genetic information accessibility and its relevance in contemporary healthcare. The session aims to equip practitioners with essential knowledge in the burgeoning field of nutrigenomics, emphasizing its application within the realm of oral systemic health.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explore the process of genetic testing for oneself or patients, highlighting the ethical considerations and procedural aspects involved.
  • Examine the various internet-based applications and programs available for interpreting raw genetic data, assessing their utility and reliability in clinical contexts.
  • Engage with Physiology and Biochemistry fundamentals, exploring pertinent pathways and areas commonly affected by genetic variations (SNPs), fostering a comprehensive understanding of their significance.

Speaker Bios:

During his chiropractic education, Dr. Robert Walker, a Chiropractic College graduate in 1987, expanded his expertise by studying Cranial manipulation techniques and Visceral treatment. Combining his background in Biology, Physiology, Biochemistry, Toxicology, Nutrition, and Physiological Psychology, he discovered gaps in chiropractic, dental, and medical education regarding head pain, occlusion, and overall body function. Dr. Walker pursued further education in Cranial mechanics, TMJ, Dental Orthopedics, and Nutrition under renowned clinicians. Since then, he's developed and taught Chirodontics™ globally, emphasizing a multidisciplinary approach to Health, Head pain, and TMD using Chiropractic, Dental Orthopaedics, Cosmetic Dentistry, Nutrition, and Cranial Orthopedic manipulation techniques. Dr. Walker has presented as a keynote speaker for various international associations and has integrated diverse fields to develop a comprehensive treatment system for the human body's interactive nature, revolutionizing 20th-century understanding of body mechanics, dental health, and clinical nutrition.

Dr. Kaye McArthur practiced Integrative and Cosmetic Dentistry for two decades before transitioning to focus on Functional Medicine and Education. She holds a Diplomate, Advanced Fellow, and Board Certification in Anti-Aging, Functional, and Metabolic Medicine and certifications in Advanced Metabolic Cardiology and Integrative Cancer. Her innovative approach challenged traditional occlusal paradigms, pioneering new diagnostic and treatment methods for Cranio craniofacial occlusion distortions and their impact on TMJ, airway function, and overall health. Dr. McArthur developed the Exceptional Dental and Exceptional Health Course series, widely taught globally, and oversees related forums encouraging interdisciplinary oral systemic treatment. She advocates for collaborative work between Dentists, Hygienists, and Functional Health teams and is also being a founding member of AAOSH.
