Course Description:

Our mouth is a diverse microbiome that can either promote or damage health. Research is now showing the inextricable link between our oral environment and the rest of the body, reframing our understanding of some of the most devastating diseases we face. Gone are the days of telling our patients to simply brush and floss their way to better oral health. In this 3-part series, we will connect the dots between oral and systemic health while learning how to balance the oral microbiome and work collaboratively to optimize our patients’ health.

Learning objectives:

  • Recognize the signs and symptoms of oral dysbiosis in both children and adults.
  • Explore the effects of oral dysbiosis on systemic health.
  • Learn how to provide counseling on the common causes of and how to treat oral dysbiosis.
