Speaker Bio:

Barbara Tritz, a seasoned registered dental hygienist with over 40 years of clinical expertise, discovered her passion for dentistry while working for an orthodontist during high school. Despite initially pursuing a different career path after feeling disillusioned by dental hygiene, she found her true calling when exposed to a phase-contrast microscope at a dental office during her grad school days in Maine. This pivotal moment transformed her perspective, inspiring her to integrate holistic healing into dental care. Barbara's journey evolved from clinical hygiene to becoming an oral health coach and orofacial myofunctional therapist, advocating for comprehensive dental wellness beyond brushing and flossing. Her dedication extends to sharing knowledge through her blog, Queen of Dental Hygiene.Net, covering diverse topics from cavity prevention to airway health. Based in Edmonds, Washington, she practices at Green City Dental and owns Washington Oral Wellness in Kirkland. Barbara holds degrees from Onondaga Community College, the University of North Carolina, and Husson University, complemented by specialized training in orofacial myofunctional therapy from the Academy of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy. As a guest lecturer, paid dental hygiene consultant, mother, and avid dental enthusiast, she passionately emphasizes the 'why' behind dental issues while advocating for continual education and holistic dental care.
